Printify to shopify problem with setting General shipping profile with api

Hi, I’m trying to automatically publish a shirt from Printify to Shopify and have it be in the General Shipping profile (not create another shipping profile for that product). All of my attempts have failed. If you have succeeded in doing this (especially recently), can you please show the command you are using?

From what I know, Printify automatically creates its own shipping profile for products because it uses Printify’s shipping rates. There isn’t a command that forces a new Printify product into your existing General Shipping profile during publishing.

What has worked for me is:

  1. Publish the product from Printify to Shopify.

  2. Go to Shopify Admin → Settings → Shipping and delivery.

  3. Open the shipping profiles.

  4. Move the product from the Printify shipping profile into your General Shipping profile (if your shipping setup allows it).

If Printify keeps creating a separate profile every time, it’s usually because the product is still connected to Printify’s shipping settings. In that case, I don’t think there’s a built-in way to stop it automatically.

Just to understand your setup better, are you using Printify Shipping Rates or your own custom shipping rates?

Custom. I know I can clean this up from the Shopify end, but I’m looking to automate it from the Printify end and have it come out clean just as it would had I clicked on the publish button myself. (I may end up programming a fake human to do that.). Thanks for your help, Ramadan_Alex.

If you’re trying to have the product land directly in the General Shipping profile during the publishing process, I haven’t come across a Printify command or API option that does that. From everything I’ve seen, the shipping profile assignment happens on Shopify’s side after the product is created.

If you do end up automating it, I’d probably look at the Shopify Admin API or Shopify Flow (if you’re on a plan that supports it) to move the product into the correct shipping profile right after it’s gets created. It isn’t as clean as having Printify do it natively, but it may be the closest workaround.

If you figure out a way to make Printify publish straight into the General profile, I’d genuinely be interested to know. That’s something I think a lot of people would find useful.
