Pro or Lite for this use case? B&M barcodes and online inventory integration

As a small business, we are keen on being able to sell our brick and mortar inventory in our Shopify website. In short, we simply need a way to keep track of what has been sold offline, in order to have an up to date inventory in our e-commerce.

Shopify POS seems like an ideal solution to have the online stock quantities updated straight away. But the PRO price is hefty.

Is Shopify Pro needed for our use case? We would like having barcodes on products to scan them when we sell them in shop. It would just make the entire process more convenient. My understanding is that barcodes are only a Pro feature? https://www.shopify.co.uk/pos/features
