Problems with Facebook App - Can't verify domain

Topic summary

A user is unable to verify a client’s domain through Facebook Business Manager because it shows as already verified by ‘Shopify Business Manager,’ despite no verification records existing (no HTML code, uploaded files, or DNS entries).

Key Issues:

  • Facebook support claims they cannot help since the domain is already verified by another entity
  • Shopify support blames Facebook, while Facebook blames Shopify—creating an endless blame cycle with no resolution since January
  • The straightforward solution would be for Meta to unverify the domain, but they refuse to do so

User’s Request:

  • Seeking advice or insight on how to resolve this issue
  • Looking for a direct contact at either Meta or Shopify support teams who can actually help (not automated responses)
  • Notes this verification process has worked without issues for hundreds of other clients

The user expresses frustration with both support teams and appears to question whether Shopify staff monitor this platform, as there’s been no response.

Hi All,

Anyone else had an issue where when trying to ‘verify a clients domain’ via Business. facebook .com you are unable too as it says it is already verified by ‘Shopify Business Manager’ except there is ‘no record’ of it being done, no html code inserted like you would normally expect, no html file uploaded, no dns entries, nothing… making it pretty much impossible for the domain to be verified via Facebook…

Facebook support (whilst useless even at the best of times) just keep telling me there’s nothing they can do because someone else has verified the domain already (that someone appears to be Shopify Business Manager…see attached screenshot):

Beyond frustrating as Shopify support team say it is Facebook’s problem and Facebook’s support team blame Shopify… the ‘endless’ blame game and no result since January so far…

Appreciate an insight/advice to correct this, bonus points if you have a contact with someone I could speak too that isn’t a ‘robot’ or ‘reading from a support script’ at Shopify or Meta support teams… The easy solution (Which Meta refuse to do) is ‘un-verify the domain’ and then i can verify it again (like we’ve done without issue to hundreds of other clients)…

Thanks,

Chris

Guessing this platform isn’t checked by Shopify Staff at all…
