We keep having this issue with GMC. Previously, I found the local data source was causing the problem so I deleted it but now I just added a bunch of new products where the inventory is not tracked and they are marked to continue selling when out of stock and GMC is giving the error for all the new products I added. The old ones are fine. Does anyone know how to fix this for good so it stops happening?
Hey @E_W1,
That availability mismatch usually happens when Google Merchant Center isn’t correctly picking up the in stock status for products with untracked inventory, even if you’ve set them to continue selling when out of stock.
First, go into Google Merchant Center, navigate to Products > All Products, find one of the new problematic products, and check the availability attribute under the “Final attributes” tab. It should show in stock. If it’s showing something else, or if the product isn’t showing up at all, that’s where the problem lies.
Often, for new products, it can be a sync delay or a cached state in GMC. Try manually requesting a re-fetch of your primary feed in GMC (under Products > Feeds, select your primary feed, and click “Fetch now”). Also, double-check that you don’t have any lingering supplemental feeds or Content API overrides that might be setting availability for new products incorrectly, as that “local data source” you mentioned previously could have been something similar. Shopify’s Google Sales Channel app should handle untracked inventory as in stock by default, so if it’s not, there might be an issue with the feed generation or a conflict in GMC itself.
P.S. I’m building a gamified discount app called Game Gophers. Looking for beta testers if you’re interested.
If you are using the google and youtube app, this sometimes bugs out and doesn’t update.
I recommend you remove the app then re-install it, that usually fixes the issue.
There are more professional tool, consider using the multifeed app: Multifeed Google Shopping Feed - Google Shopping feed, Facebook,... feeds & conversion tracking | Shopify App Store
to add to what other members have mentioned, just ensure that at all times, your physical (real) inventory, original source file (in our case Shopify), website data (landing page), structured data, opengraph tags, have the same value for the availability attribute.
and can you share what’s the app/product upload method you are currently using? i would suggest consider using a feed management solution like adnabu. it provides instant product data sync from Shopify to GMC, and helps prevent price, availability, or any other attribute mismatches with ease.
Thanks for the recommendation! Yes, we’ve been using the Google Youtube app. I was starting to wonder if that was the problem because I have fixed this issue several times before by disconnecting the app and reconnecting.
This specific issue, has existed for a few years now. And honestly this app constinately has issues, and it takes years for Google to fix it, because I don’t think the app is Google’s priority.
