Product Bundle App with Automatic Price Updates

I am looking for a product bundle app that will automatically update prices when the original product in the bundle that is linked to it is updated.

Basically we are trying to display the same item on our store but with different product names and images but it needs to pull inventory from the main item. If there’s a different way of accomplishing this we’re open to that.

We also need this item to print the different product name or identify it on the New order staff notification.

I completely understand your situation. You don’t need any complex or sophisticated bundle app — you can simply try the “Inventory Sync Gogo” app. Since you only need to sync the inventory of duplicate items, you can sell them at different prices without any issues.

I did search - it’s about BOTH inventory and pricing. Can’t find anything that does both.

You can do this with a bundle app that supports dynamic pricing and inventory sync. With Adoric, the bundle can pull price changes directly from the main product, so whenever the base item updates, the bundle price updates automatically.

It also lets you display the same item under different names or images while still pulling stock from the original product. For staff notifications, you can set a custom name or label in the app settings so the order prints exactly the name you want.

Great question! It sounds like you’re looking for a few things:

  1. Shared inventory – Multiple products pulling from the same underlying stock
  2. Auto-updating prices – When the main product price changes, the linked products update too
  3. Distinct product names on orders – So staff notifications show the specific product name the customer purchased, not the underlying item

This is definitely achievable with a bundle app setup! Here’s how it would work:

You’d create your “display” products (with their unique names and images) as bundles, and link them to the main item as a component. This gives you:

• Shared inventory – The display products pull inventory from the main item automatically
• Auto-sync pricing – Most bundle apps have an option to sync bundle price based on component pricing, so when the main item’s price changes, the bundle updates
• Separate order details – The customer-facing product name appears on the order and staff notifications, so your team knows exactly which product was purchased

Full disclosure: I’m part of the Simple Bundles team, and our app supports all of this. We have a “sync bundle price based on products in a bundle” option that keeps pricing updated automatically, plus inventory syncs from the component. The bundle’s product name (your display name) shows on the order for staff.

Not sure how other apps approach this, but we have the top line sellable SKU as a the master KIT item, then have a Bill of Materials (BOM) that you then specify the component SKUs and Qty’s that make up that KIT. If the pricing of any one of the component SKUs changes, it can automatically calculate the total price of the KIT accordingly.

On the inventory front, we also look at the available inventory for each of the components to determine the total possible number of KITs that can be made. This is constrained by the lowest inventory component. E.g. Let’s say you have a KIT of:

  • 1 laptop
  • 1 bag
  • 2 mouse pads
  • 1 mouse

If you have 12 mouse pads available (not on-hand, but actually available to sell) and 12 of each of the other components too, we’d report to Shopify that you have 6 of those KITs to sell.

Additionally for shared inventory as part of multiple KITS: KIT-A, KIT-B, KIT-C, and they all also use 2 mouse pads, we’d still report 6 of each of those kits A, B, and C to Shopify that you can sell. We don’t divide the inventory up and report that you can only sell 2 of each (totaling 6) because you can sell up to 6 each.

Now as soon as you sell say 1 KIT-A, then we’d tell Shopify that you only have 5 left of each KIT. This also goes for selling on multiple storefronts that you may have that also share the same component kit inventory.

Based on what you described, you may want to check OSCP Bundle and Upsell App . It allows you to create bundles that pull products directly from your existing inventory, so when the main product price or inventory is updated, the bundle reflects those changes automatically.

You can also configure bundles so that different product names or configurations appear in the order details, which helps your team clearly identify items in new order notifications. This is useful if you’re displaying the same item with different images or names but still want everything linked to the original SKU.
