For over a year now I’ve been trying to get help from Shopify with this issue. We sell 99% one of a kind items, so we are constantly adding new ones by duplicating similar ones. When we click the duplicate button, it takes anywhere from 30 seconds to a full minute to actually create the product and reload the page where we can start editing the details. Listing 100-200 products a day this is obviously a huge time sink. Creating new products from scratch is no faster.
Tech support has turned it over the developers and tell me it’s in queue for a top level update with no estimate on when.
This week I created a full site duplication over to a new “development” store, including our 68,000 products. Testing on the development store, product duplication takes 2-3 seconds as it should.
I uninstalled every 3rd party app that had any sort of connection to products on the backend, and it hasn’t helped.
Is there some diagnostic tool that I can use to monitor what is actually happening when the product is being duplicated to perhaps see where the hangup is happening?
