Product, Files and Collections photos in Admin Interface

Topic summary

A Shopify admin is frustrated with extremely small product and collection image thumbnails in the admin interface, making it difficult to distinguish between photos. They’ve contacted Shopify support multiple times without resolution.

Proposed Solutions:

  • Hover Zoom+ extension: Suggested to enlarge images on hover, but user reports it doesn’t work when hovering over thumbnails
  • Stylus extension with custom CSS: Recommended to manually increase thumbnail sizes by targeting Shopify admin image classes

Current Status:
The user tested the Stylus approach and found images become blurry when resized, indicating the source thumbnails are too small/low-resolution to scale effectively. The issue remains unresolved, as both workarounds have limitations. Shopify does not offer a native setting to adjust admin thumbnail sizes.

Hi,

Working in Shopify it’s for the most part a glance but the admin interface is really hard to handle when it comes to distinguish photos of products and images they appear tiny to the points its totally unbearable and driving me crazy.

Is there any way I can change this, maybe a Chrome addon?

I’ve spoken to Shopify and support many times but without any difference.
I do understand the difficulty and process to implement such changes.

I would appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks

Hey @SlimJackie would you like to share a ScreenShot of the Admin panel so that I take a look and provided you solution code.

And I need to ask did you add any chrome extention like Ezfy Code or other Shopify related? Sometime a extention code conflict with that.

Waiting for your response.

Thanks

Thanks, ive added some images.

Hope it helps.

Try to use this extention. Hover Zoom+.

Let me know if this work for you.

Thanks

Thanks! I will check it out.

Unfortunately, Shopify doesn’t currently offer a built-in option to enlarge product image thumbnails in the admin interface. However, you can use a Chrome extension like Stylus to apply custom CSS that increases the image sizes for better visibility. You’d just need to write a simple rule targeting Shopify admin image classes—many users have done this successfully to improve their workflow.

That is an even better solution.

Thanks!

Ive tried it now, its better but the pictures are all blurry when resized.
Hmm. It was a good idea, not ideal for this I guess. So what ever I do
the images are too small in the first place.

Tried the over thing, but that nothing happens when I hover the picture.
