I exported all my products to a .csv file and saved it locally. I then edited the file extensively and saved it with a different filename.
When I imported the edited csv file into shopify, a stack of images disappeared so I thought, OK, no problem, I’ll just re-import the original unedited file. Nope! Images still missing.
I checked both versions of the files and the “Img Source” column is heavily populated #scratcheshead
Anyone got any advice?

There is a one thing with images, once you delete image from the product actual image will be removed from the server as well, so even if you have links to old images (for example on backup file) you woun’t be able to restore them, that’s why you need to be very carefull while updating products using import/export csv.
In short there is no way to have a backup of product images, you can have backup file which has all the attributes, prices, configuration of product, but not images.
