I’m trying to upload 210 SKU’s as I’m migrating a client’s store to Shopify. I have followed the instructions exactly and started with the example upload .csv file.
I’m getting the following error at upload:
Line 2: Src cannot be blank.
I’m ASSUMING that is Image Src, which is not blank, there is a functioning URL there (when I copy/paste the URL into a browser, the image is displayed).
I have tried removing all data from the Image Src column to no avail.
It seems like you are missing the image url. A screenshot would be handy to determine the exact problem.
Are you using variants? In case of variants you need to fill in both the the “Image Src” and “Variant Image” columns.
The best solution is to create one of the items manually, extract it in a csv and compare it with the file you want to load to see what’s missing.
I have the same problem and it is super frustrating. I’ve tried so many things to get it to work and nothing works.
I reduced my product import file down to 1 product in order to keep the troubleshooting as simple as possible. I’ve changed the Image Src to several different image types, jpeg, png, jpg (I discovered Shopify doesn’t support jpeg filetypes so that is a no no) and I always get the same error
Just to make sure the import function is working, I imported the product sample template - and it imported successfully.
Next, I copied and pasted the Image Src url from my own product import file into the Shopify product sample template - if there is a problem with the Image Src url in my product file, it should throw an error when importing the Shopify product sample template again. IT DIDN’T throw an error - meaning there is nothing wrong with the url in my file. In other words, it works when used in the Shopify product template import, but it doesn’t work in my product import. Seems like something else is wrong.
The error message “Src cannot be blank” indicates that there is data in columns ‘Image Position’ or ‘Image Alt Text’ without data in the same row under ‘Image Src.’
I ran into this exact problem and if there is no image link in the image column, then make sure there is no text in the following ‘Image Position’ or ‘Image Alt Text’ columns. After doing this I stopped receiving the error and then received the message of successfully uploading 9,956 Products/SKUs and 4,633 images. So it is possible to upload a CSV file where not all products have images.
