Hi again, I tried modifying the CSV and added based on the product tag, however when I uploaded it, the options where there but it ignored the condition of the tag. I could do it manually as you suggest but i have around 4000 products, each with different customisation. Can you be more specific about modifying the CSV as I could be getting it wrong and the could be the reason it isn’t recognising the product tags when I upload?
Topic summary
Goal: Bulk-add product personalization fields from a supplier CSV to thousands of Shopify products (single-line text inputs with labels, max lengths, optional/mandatory flags).
- Scale: Initially 1,000+ products, later clarified as ~4,000, each potentially with different customization requirements.
- Attempts: Multiple apps tested. An app (Easify Product Options) was suggested, showing UI examples and conditional logic.
- CSV import issue: OP reports conditions work when set manually but are ignored when importing via CSV; support previously told them CSV-based setup isn’t supported and must be done manually.
- App vendor response: Says import/export exists but requires converting CSV to their format; recommends creating one option set and assigning to products via conditions (collections, tags, titles). OP tried tag-based assignment after CSV modification; options appeared but tag condition was ignored, asking for precise CSV mapping details.
- Alternative: Another reply suggests implementing via metafields plus custom code. A separate commenter claims no import/upload per helpdesk and questions usefulness.
- Status: Unresolved. Key open questions: Whether conditional assignment is supported via CSV and how to map the supplier CSV correctly; otherwise, custom development may be required.
