Hi all - I have a site using the Debut theme. Most of the products have some sort of size variation. For the past few months, we have received complaints every week that a customer swears that they selected the correct variation, and yet the selection was reverted to the default choice either after it was placed in the cart or during the checkout process.
The issue seems completely random and I can’t identify any common trait. I also have trouble reproducing the problem, but we get it often enough that it’s not user error.
I did implement the Shopify process of getting customers to explicitly choose an option, as we were having a similar issue where customers were accidentally ordering the default option. I suspect that something related to this fix is causing this issues, but I’m worried that trying to unwind it will introduce more issues, and we have other CSS style customizations and I would prefer not to wipe away the theme to reinstall.
Any ideas before I throw in the towel and reinstall the theme?
For anyone having a similar issue, I was able to step through the code and fix the problem. I’m surprised more people aren’t reporting this, because it appears to be a Safari bug related to the selected value of an HTML select tag.
