I sell cross stitch supplies. I have a designer that releases a new design approximately monthly… but there is no set schedule. I have many customers who purchase every one when released, but like I said… monthly is not a guarantee. Is there a way to set up a subscription where when I add a new product to a certain collection (or some place I have to add or tag) for them to be on an auto order subscription when it’s released? Or can subscriptions only be done on an exact time frame… not per release?
Oh, this is a great question because it taps into the one thing every shop owner wants—guaranteed sales with zero friction. Most subscription setups (like Shopify’s native options or third-party apps) work on a set schedule—monthly, quarterly, etc. But what you need is a “product-based” subscription, triggered only when a new item drops. Some subscription apps let you do this with automation rules—tagging a product in a collection triggers an order for subscribers. It’s not built into Shopify by default, but with the right app, you can make it work seamlessly.
