Products bundles - mix and match a few from collection

Topic summary

A user seeks to implement a mix-and-match bundle feature for cosmetics where customers select one product each from multiple collections (e.g., deodorants, face creams, soaps) at a fixed bundle price.

Proposed Solutions:

  • Custom Development: One respondent suggests hiring a developer for custom coding to achieve the exact functionality.

  • Third-Party Apps with Custom Attributes: Using apps like Bold Options or Infinite Options to create product selection lists. However, this approach has inventory management limitations since selections are labels and won’t reflect stock availability.

  • BYOB App: Offers bundle creation with multiple collection conditions and discounted pricing, though it displays products on a separate page rather than within the product detail page.

  • Simple Bundles & Kits App: Recommended for creating “Infinite Option” bundles that bypass Shopify’s variant limits. Includes video tutorials for setup.

Criticism: One user notes that Simple Bundles & Kits requires manually selecting individual products and variants rather than entire categories, making setup time-consuming.

The discussion remains open with multiple approaches suggested but no clear consensus on the optimal solution.

Hi everyone,

I would like to implement a ‘bundles products - mix and match’ feature on Shopify, but with the following functionality. Here’s a simplified scenario:

We sell cosmetics. We have several collections / categories of cosmetics, such as Deodorants, Face Creams and Soaps. In each of these categories, we have 10 products, for example: Lavender Soap, Orange Soap, Berry Soap, and so on. We want to offer the option to create a bundle priced at X, consisting of a deodorant, a face cream and a soap. Here’s where it gets tricky, as we want the customer to be able to choose any soap, any face cream, and any deodorant from the ones we have available. In other words, the customer can configure their bundle by selecting one product from each category.

In other words, we want to create bundles that can include either specific products or products from specified categories, which the customer can choose from within those categories.

Such an option is available in the store under the following link: https://4szpaki.pl/all/zestawy-4szpaki/zestaw-prezentowy-bestsellerowy

Hello,

For that we need to make custom code in that.

And for that you need to hire a developer for that.

Hi @MaxFlurry

Your requirement can be fulfilled by two ways.

Use any custom attribute app like bold options or infinite option and create list of all the product category and list.

User will select the item and those name will be available in your order list.

Issues:

The only issue with this is inventory management, since they are only labels they will not removed if product is out of stock.

Note:

  1. These apps are paid and will have recurring charges.

  2. This can be done via custom coding at one time payment.

  3. Custom coding

If you are familiar with coding you can implement this whole functionality using custom code.

Like user will have different search boxes for every category which will show only available products in search.

Those names will be shown in your order and cart as attribute.

Hope this will help…

Our app, BYOB, doesn’t have a similar layout with your page. Instead of a widget in a product detail page, our app shows the products on a whole page.

You can create bundles with multiple conditions, e.g. select any 1 from Soap collection AND select 2 from the Face cream collection, pay a discounted price.

Customers can pick and mix their own bundles from multiple collections. Here’re some sample bundles you can try

Hi @MaxFlurry

Please refer to the below video to get the reference.

Let us know if will work.

Hi @MaxFlurry ,

I’m Camila from Simple Bundles & Kits. I’m thrilled to inform you that our app allows you to create mix-and-match bundles like the one you described!

With our Infinite Option bundle, you can easily set up bundles that exceed Shopify’s 100 variant and 3 option limit, making them ideal for your three categories with 10 products each. This should take only a couple of minutes to set up, and here’s a helpful video walkthrough to guide you through the process: How to create mix-and-match bundle.

You can also reference this helpful article: Building an infinite options bundle.

If you have any questions, feel free to let me know. We’ll be delighted to help you set up the bundle!

Warm regards,

Camila

You will spend an eternity building a bundle for different categories with the Simple Bundles & Kits app. You cannot choose categories when building your bundle. You have to check each product and its variants manually.
