products not showing on collection page

Topic summary

Products are failing to appear on certain collection pages (accessories, Prada, dresses) on a Shopify store that previously functioned correctly.

Root Cause Identified:

  • Products were added to collections manually without proper categorization
  • Recently uploaded items lacked product types and tags, causing visibility issues

Solution Provided:

  • Add product types (e.g., “skirts”) and tags to each product
  • Configure automated collections using conditions based on product type or tags
  • This ensures future products automatically appear in appropriate collections when tagged correctly

Outcome:

  • Products became visible again after implementing product types and tags
  • Manual collection management remains an option, though automated collections are recommended for efficiency
  • The solution successfully resolved the issue for multiple users

Hi everybody,

Since a few days some products are not showing up on some collection pages. My site has been functioning, and I do not know what the issue is. I have read these type of forms and was not able to find a solution.

My site name is pezzidiperla.com

This problem is occurring on for example the ‘accessories’, ‘prada’, ‘dresses’ collection page.

Thanks a lot for reading!

With kind regards Eva

I think the possible reason is that you haven’t categorized the products you want to display into the corresponding collection.

Hi Wo thank thank you for responding. Yes you are right that I did not categorized the items. None are.. it seems to work fine until a few days ago and just with a small fraction of the products. Here I added a screen shot how it looks for me on the uploaded products. I am reletively new here and just trying everything myself.

From your screenshots, your collections are all added manually. This is not good.
A more appropriate way is to add product types or tags to the products, and then set the products to be automatically categorized.

Take skirts as an example.

You can add the product type as skirts,

Then add a collection, select automated, and add conditions. Here I choose the product type, you can also choose tags or other as needed.
After setting it up like this. In the future, all the skirt products you add can be automatically classified into the skirt collection by just adding the product type.

Hi Wo,

Thank you so much. Items are becoming visible again when I use the product types and tags. I did not do that until the last items I uploaded, and when I think now that was in the collections that seem to disappear. Is it really necessary to create automated collections? Thank you again and have a nice day!

You can do it manually or automatically. It depends on which operation you prefer.
