The latest change to the Products Filtering is TERRIBLE and a regression!
When you select in the top left the Status of “All”, “Active”, “Draft”, etc, WHY DOES IT DELETE THE SEARCH TEXT. This is STUPID! KEEP THE SEARCH TAXT in the SEARCH BOX. It is too much more effort to the mouse the cursor back in to type the same thing in AGAIN!!
PLEASE make this a drop down that leaves the text in the search bar!

I can understand your frustration facing change that breaks a basic, intuitive search workflow and adds unnecessary friction to daily inventory management.
While there is no way to force Shopify to revert the code, there is a practical workaround you can use to keep your search term active while changing the status view.
Instead of clicking those top status tabs, type your search text into the search box first. Next, click directly on the search bar to open the dropdown filter menu, and add a status filter from there, such as Status is Active. Doing it this way appends the status as a filter pill right next to your search query instead of loading a completely new tab view, which keeps your search text safely locked in place.
It is still an extra click compared to the old system, but it will save you from having to move your mouse back and forth to type your search query over and over again.

You are right currently, when changing the product status filter (All, Active, Draft, etc.), the search input gets cleared, which can interrupt the workflow and require re entering the query.
At the moment, this appears to be the expected behavior in the Shopify admin filtering system, and there is no option to keep the search text persistent when switching status filters.
As a workaround, you can first apply the search term and then use the filter options (Status = Active/Draft) from the filter menu, which helps reduce re typing in some cases.
We understand how this impacts usability, and it would be a valuable improvement for Shopify to allow search and filters to work together without resetting the query. We recommend submitting this feedback to Shopify so it can be considered for future updates.

This is so incredibly frustrating and completely kills the momentum when you’re updating catalog data. Having the search term just vanish the second you click a status filter makes no sense, and forcing us to keep moving the mouse back to retype the exact same word over and over is pure friction. It worked fine before, they really need to leave the search text alone when toggling those top tabs.

I understand it’s just annoying when you’re sifting through massive catalogs and want to be efficient. In the meantime, a practical workaround is to use saved views (with predefined status filters), so you won’t have to write searches each time, or use browser search shortcuts like Ctrl+F to quickly find products on the list of filtered results. I also keep a duplicate tab open with my search already set in case I want to change views without losing my place.
