Product's second img when hover is not shown as variant's second img

Hi, I’m using the Dawn theme. When I went into the theme customisation and enabled the “Show second image on hover” option on the collection page, the second image of the product is not the second image of the product variant, but the second image of the full image of the product itself.

I have attempted to resolve this issue on several occasions, but have been unable to do so.
Please let me know if you have a solution.
