Hi all, thanks for the chance to ask this question. Our question relates to visually separating clearance variants on the products page so that they are easier to see that they are the clearance colours.
To start off with, here is our situation:
-
We use Cin7 as our inventory platform, and we upload all product information from Cin7 to Shopify. Cin7 uploads to two different Shopify websites. One covers New Zealand and Australia (Southern), and the other covers all over countries (Northern). Merging these sites isn’t an option for us.
-
We have lines of clothing that come in different colours and sizes. A product can have up to 10 colour variants.
-
Our current solution of separating the clearance options into different products isn’t working for us.
Our hurdle:
At any given time on a particular product, we choose to make one or more of the colour variants a clearance option on the Southern site, but not the Northern site. To do that, in Cin7 we split the product into two, and merge the non-clearance variants together as one product, and the clearance options together as another. Effectively two different products in Cin7 and Shopify. On the Southern site, this solution works perfectly. On the Northern, it causes issues.
Why? Based on how our new stock lines are produced, the Southern site has them uploaded first to match the season. The Northern site won’t have them uploaded until they get to that same season. A colour variant can become a clearance colour on the Southern site before it is even visible on the Northern site. And because we have split the variants in Cin7, the Northern site would get the same splits and we can’t find a way around that.
So… We’d like to merge all similar products and their colour variants together again, but visually separate them on the product page.
The clearance option will use the clearance price from Cin7, specifically the ‘Special$’ field.
We currently have no known way of visually separating the clearance colour variants from the non-clearance variants. Ideally, if the clearance colour variant is using the Cin7 ‘Special$’ field, we’d love to have those colour swatches appear separated from the non clearance swatches. The closest I have found to a solution would be the Variator: See Product Variants App by Extendons (https://apps.shopify.com/variants-as-separate-products). That would then put all variants on individual product pages which isn’t what we want.
So, in a nutshell, is there a known app or coding solution that would let us have more control over the product colour variants when displayed on a product page. We want to be able to have different colours on clearance across the two Shopify sites which feed from the same data saved in Cin7.
That was difficult to explain, and I’m more than happy to elaborate if more information is needed. Any assistance in pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Nathan
