Query Regarding Testing and Launching an Unlisted App on Shopify Store

Hi Shopify Team,

I’ve developed an application for Shopify, which includes proper OAuth integration and adheres to all Shopify guidelines. Currently, I’m planning to upload it as an unlisted application to carry out further testing with merchants and ensure everything is running smoothly before our official launch on the Shopify App Store.

My question is: if I conduct testing on the unlisted app and then later decide to publish it as a public app on the store, is that process possible? Additionally, if I haven’t made any changes between testing and launching the public app, will Shopify need to review it again, or will the initial review suffice? I would appreciate detailed guidance on how this scenario would be handled.

You need to have it reviewed and approved before it can be published (even as unlisted) on the app store. From there, you can switch it to be publicly listed at any time, without another review (Shopify may audit/review the app periodically though just to make sure everything is still good).
