Question about custom fields on product page

Hi!

Is there a way to add custom product specifications to a product?

I want to add specifications that I can later use for custom filtering. What is the best way to achieve this?

Although shopify now natively supports metafields.

I mean I want to add let’s say, interior or exterior painting as a filter, and it should filter in the collection page by the specification in the page.
