Question about total annual sales for specific products

Pls move if this is not in the correct forum…

We have an artist website in which some of the products are books. I need to determine total book sales (units or dollars) for the year. Is there a “shopify” way to do this in the orders section. We are on the “middle” plan - not basic, not advanced. Or do I just need to search orders for the book titles and add them all up. ?

Thanks for reaching out here! I noticed you are new to our Community forum, welcome. I’m happy to provide you with the steps you can take to generate the necessary report.

Since you are on the Shopify plan, you have access to the Sales by product report which shows the breakdown of total sales of your products, but does not include shipping. Does that work for you? If so, you can follow these steps to generate your report:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Analytics > Reports.
  2. In the Sales section, click Show all.
  3. Click the sales by product
  4. Choose the date range (example: the past year to date)
  5. Click Manage filters
  6. Filter by product name or product type (example: books)
  7. Export report

You could also consider using the sales over time report, choose your date range, and filter again by-product to view a full report of products sold during that specific time period.
