I would like to develop payment apps using shopify’s manual payment method to access local banks to complete financing payments.
Are there any requirements for the store and do I need to upgrade the Shopify Plus version?
Topic summary
A developer wants to create a custom payment app using Shopify’s manual payment method to integrate with local banks for processing payments.
Key Requirements Clarified:
- The Payment App program is invitation-only and currently restricted to Shopify Plus merchants in specific regions
- For private/internal use only (not publishing to the app store), manual payment methods can be configured directly in Shopify settings without requiring Plus
- A fully integrated payment solution with local bank APIs would likely require Shopify Plus and API access
Alternative Approach:
If full integration isn’t necessary, standard manual payment methods (like bank transfers) can be set up without upgrades. Third-party payment gateways supporting the local region may also be viable alternatives.
The developer should review Shopify’s Payment Apps documentation to determine the exact requirements for their use case.
Hi, there
As far as i know Not everyone can develop it. Only those who are invited are eligible
We use it ourselves, so we don’t need to publish it to the app store, we just interface with a local bank for payment.
You don’t need Shopify Plus to use manual payment methods, but if you’re developing a custom payment app, you’ll need to apply for Shopify’s Payment App program, which is currently available only to Shopify Plus merchants in certain regions
For manual payments (like bank transfers), you can set up a manual payment method in Shopify settings without additional upgrades. However, if you want a fully integrated solution with local banks, you may need Shopify Plus + API access or explore third-party payment gateways that support your region.
