Quick Question about orders with items from different vendors

Topic summary

Issue: Orders containing a CJ-sourced jewelry item and a store-created warranty product are sent to CJ with both line items. CJ flags the order as invalid due to the warranty being an “unconnected product,” despite the warranty’s inventory being set to the store’s own address.

Observed behavior: In Shopify, fulfillment lines appear separated (warranty fulfilled by store; jewelry requested from CJ). However, the CJ app still ingests the entire order and sees the warranty item.

Actions taken:

  • Confirmed “Inventory will be stocked at” is set to the store address for the warranty.
  • Consulted CJ support; they provided a recovery workflow to process only the jewelry, which works but requires extra steps.

Vendor response: CJ indicated it’s normal for them to receive non-supplied items within an order, leading to the unconnected product flag.

Outstanding questions:

  • How to prevent CJ from receiving/processing the warranty line item while keeping other products routed to CJ.
  • Whether enabling tracking or assigning inventory to the warranty would change CJ’s visibility of that item.

Status: Unresolved; seeking a configuration-based solution to ensure CJ only receives items they fulfill.

Hi,

So I have a jewelry store I am going through the testing phase. I am sourcing products from CJ, and I made my own product which is a warranty.

Under the product settings, I have the inventory setting set to my address.

When I test purchase an order with the warranty - CJ still sees the warranty and marks the order as invalid because it’s an unconnected product. I asked CJ about it, and they walked me through a recovery process that seemed to work - but it seems like a lot of unnecessary steps.

There must be a way so CJ only receives the product that they are fulfilling and not my warranty product. Even when I go to “fulfill” the test order, shopify has them separated, where I mark fulfill for the warranty, and then I can separately request fulfillment from CJ - which all seems correct. Yet CJ still receives the order with my warranty on it.

Is this normal or?

Appreciate the reply. Yeah the very first thing I checked was to make sure “Inventory will be stocked at” was set to my address.

Ive looked at it about 50 times now, as there doesn’t seem to be anything else I could even change?

“A possible solution could be to double-check your inventory setting to ensure it’s set to your address for both the product and the warranty product”

I wouldn’t want all my products to be set to my address though just the warranty right?

Yeah, I asked them about it before I came here. They walked me through how to recover the order and only pay for the jewelry piece.

I asked if it was normal for them to receive an item in an order that is not supplied them (my warranty) They said yes it’s normal. I just don’t quite buy that answer. They showed me away to complete the order for my customer, but I basically have to jump through a few hoops to process each order on CJ.

Basically, why is my warranty being sent to CJ. I created the product, and I marked inventory is stocked at my location. So I just don’t understand why they’re seeing the warranty when the order goes through.

One thing I did not do, and I am not sure if this matters or not but maybe it does… is I did not enable tracking or assign inventory to the warranty.
