Quick Walkthrough: Setting Up a Google Ad

Can you walk us through the basic setup of a Google Ad, including key considerations for targeting, budgeting, and ad creatives?

Hello Liv, great question. If you are a novice in Google Ads, I would recommend setting up a performance max campaign. This campaign will guide you through the asset requirements which are the headlines, descriptions, images, brand name, brand logo, and assets such as sitelinks etc.

Make sure that with your headlines and descriptions you share what sets you apart from your competitors, what is it, that is so great about you and your business.

Also add images that are lifestyle, some with catchy text phrases etc.

Budgeting, this all depends, but I would suggest at least $50 per day, but only set this budget if you can have such a budget for a few weeks at least, as it does take time to get traction.

Consider adding add to cart metrics as a conversion so that you can give Google a bit more data to learn from. But make sure to set the add to cart value to $1. Otherwise you will over spend.

For targeting, you type in the search terms that are relevant to what you are selling. As to audiences, to begin use your google ads data and ga4 data.

And for demographics, choose the in market categories that match what you sell.
