Re: Adding and Creating Store Policies

When a customer checks out, they need to check off that they’ve read, and agree to our company policies. How can I get a copy of the customer’s agreement?

To create store policies, From Admin > Settings > Policies

You can use Shopify’s template and edit information or click “Replace with template” to use your own ones.

This is a great question! At the moment, Shopify does not have a native feature that will provide you with a copy of your customers agreements with the store policies. However, you could potentially use a third-party application like RT: Terms and Conditions Box to add a terms and conditions checkbox to the cart page. This way will make customers be required to tick it before proceeding to checkout. If a customer doesn’t tick the checkbox before clicking the checkout button, an alert will be displayed informing the customer to agree to the terms and conditions.

With that being said, I can certainly see the benefit of receiving a copy of your customer’s agreement for your business so I am going to provide this as a suggestion to our developers.

Currently my site also does not allow the customer to proceed to checkout without first clicking check box. However I do not have actual proof that the customer accepted the terms. When we were on the Volusion platform, all orders received had the affirmation that the customer accepted.

You could look into the available third-party applications for the terms of service checkbox to see if one of the available applications can return a copy of the agreement. With that being said, since these applications are not developed or designed directly by Shopify - I am not entirely familiar with the complete functionality of each application listed.

Alternatively, you could potentially reach out to Shopify Experts if you are interested in hiring an individual to build this feature for you.

I found an app that will add the date and time of when the customer has ticked the checkbox and agreed to your terms and conditions to the order details under the ‘Additional Details’ section of the order! I am looking into my orders and notice that not all orders have an ‘Additional Details’ section, First can you explain why some do and some don’t have that section.
