Reasonable Budget and Max Performance Ads

Hi,

We’re a new sustainable clothing brand selling organic cotton clothes. We’ve been running Google search and shopping ads with low budgets ($10-$15/day) for more than 2 months and haven’t had any purchase conversions. I was wondering, for a new small retailer like us, what a reasonable budget for shopping ads is. Also, when is the right time to run Max Performance ads? I heard that it’s not recommended for brand new businesses. Thank you in advance for your time.

Hello Zero, thank you for your question. That is a common issue with 3 aspects, 1) you have your own brand, 2) low budget, 3) just starting out.

It’s a tough world. My recommendation if possible, at least have $30 or $50 per day.

And to ensure your targeting can be controlled use a standard shopping campaign with multiple layers, so that you can target specific keywords.

I have a detailed video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiRIDzRrHno

Performance Max works great with around 30+ sales per month. Anything lower than this, usually is hard to get traction. Of course every account is different, so testing is always good to see if it works for you or not.

But I would start with standard shopping.

And also improve your data feed quality, which is very important. Consider following the requirements and recommendations here: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7052112
