I am looking to hide products with 0 quantities from appearing in recommended products on our website. I feel like this should be possible but haven’t had much success. Has anyone encountered a similar scenario with successful results?
We are able to create custom collections with then show as recommended products, which will work on a range of products, but we also rely on Shopify’s automated recommendations too. Likewise, if we relied solely on custom collections to act as recommended, we would need to constantly keep an eye on these to remove out of stock products.

I suggest you apply automated product badges on your store to solve this issue. You can try out ModeMagic. It’s an app to apply badges on your store, and you can automate them too. Once you automate and apply the product badges on the products, they won’t show up on your store if they are not in stock.
