I’m facing a similar problem with my Shopify Plus account. I want to get rid of the highlighted text on the checkout page. I don’t want this information to appear during the checkout process.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to hide or remove it from the checkout page.
Go to Edit Default Theme Content → type in Recurring to filter selection → You are looking for Recurring total tooltip. You can edit the content of the tooltip. I was able to remove the Recurring Subtotal line as well by just typing a space and saving. You can’t have an empty value but a space will work.
You can’t remove the tooltip completely but you can change the content.
