Redirects question when keeping same domain but switching host?

Hi!

My website was hosted with another provider which I switched to Shopify. My domain will remain the same.

However, the links to products on my current website are like this exemple:

…/oktoberfest/oktoberfest-mini-centre-de-table-7-5-po-54603

On Shopify, all the products will be like this:

…/products/oktoberfest-mini-centre-de-table-7-5-po

Do I need to create redirects!? The domain will remain the same but the links to the products are different. What will happen when clients click on a link on my Google Business page for exemple? Or if they have bookmarked a products…

Obviously I cannot afford to lose traffic due to bad SEO after switching website.

This is so confusing to me right now…

Thank you in advance for your help! :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, you will need to create redirects. You probably don’t have a ton of SEO value across all your pages, but I’d confirm that for any of your top 100-200 most visited pages, the URL doesn’t change or you have a redirect.

Thank you! So these redirects, do I create them in shopify now and they will become active when the page gives a 404 error?
