Hi there! I opened a Shopify store a few weeks ago with the intent to watch some videos for starting your store etc. After seeing how busy my schedule has been between my kids and doordashing (currently unemployed), I decided to wait to utilize the services and cancelled my trial. A few minutes ago I went into my bank account to and realized my account is in the negative for the monthly subscription fee. I don’t know if I did it wrong or didn’t submit when I went in to cancel. Is it possible to get a refund? My account is in the negative and I don’t have the money to cover it.
Hi, @abloomingthing .
Welcome to the Shopify Community and thanks for sharing your question here!
I understand that you recently opened up your own Shopify store but decided to wait to utilize the services and cancelled your trial. You mentioned that you received a subscription charge and are unsure if you cancelled your store.
Without being able to take a look at your account through our community forums, perhaps your store was not closed correctly. If cancelled correctly, you should have received a confirmation email to confirm that your store has been closed. I’d like to share our resource and steps for **Pausing or Deactivating your store **to ensure these steps have been followed.
How to cancel your subscription and deactivate your Shopify store:
-
From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Plan.
-
Click Deactivate store.
-
Select a reason for the deactivation, and then click Continue.
-
Enter your password, and then click Deactivate now.
Once you’ve gone through the above steps of closing your store, I recommend reaching out to our support team via the Shopify Help Center. As per Shopify Terms of Service - Section 14.10 we do not issue refunds. However, by creating a support request through the help center, our support team may be able to take a look and provide further insight into your account.
Please let us know if you have difficulties accessing the help center or have any further questions!
