A customer used the Shop Pay installments to pay for an order, they then returned part of the order and we did a $0 refund and issued a gift card for the returned items. But how does this affect their shop pay installments? Would they still owe the full amount?
Hi, @pineandplains .
Normally if the buyer’s refund amount is less than the amount remaining on their Shop Pay Installments balance, then the buyer can expect to see fewer remaining payments on their end, a smaller final payment, or both. If the buyer’s refund amount is more than the amount remaining on their Shop Pay Installments balance, then the buyer can expect to receive the difference as a refund to their original debit or credit card payment method within 3-10 business days. More information on this can also be found on our Help Document here.
In saying this however, seeing as you also issued a gift card for the returned items, I recommend getting in touch with our Live Support team so that we can take a closer look at the order from our end. To get in touch with our team, you’ll need to login to your store via our help centre here. Once logged in, select a topic that best fits your query or situation. From there, you’ll be taken to a page with a list of relevant support articles, and you can scroll to the bottom of that page to select your preferred contact method with our team. We’ll then be able to take a closer look at this matter and help make sure that your refund was processed correctly.
In the meantime, I’ll leave our Shopify blog here for you in case you’d like to further optimise your store’s return and refund processes or strategies.
