Hi Viktor, thanks for your prompt reply. I will check about this in more details with a tax consultant situated in India
Topic summary
This is a regional support hub for Shopify merchants operating in India, providing centralized resources and community assistance across four key business areas:
Available Support Threads:
- Payments (India)
- Shipping (India)
- Taxes (India)
- Marketing (India)
Key Topics Discussed:
Cross-selling & Product Recommendations: Merchants seeking apps to display related products can use third-party solutions like Cross Sell Related Products, Zoorix, Honeycomb Upsell, and Also Bought. These apps generally donāt significantly impact site speed when used selectively.
Shipping Integration: Indian merchants can connect FedEx and UPS accounts for live carrier-calculated rates at checkout. Additional shipping service integrations are available through apps listed in the dedicated shipping support thread.
GST Registration Requirements: Businesses must register for GST in each state where they sell if annual turnover exceeds ā¹20 lakhs (ā¹10 lakhs for North East/hill states). Registration is also mandatory for inter-state supply, online marketplace sales, or businesses previously registered under earlier tax laws. Merchants are advised to consult local tax professionals for compliance confirmation.
Currency & Display Issues: Questions remain open regarding changing the rupee symbol display (Rs. to ā¹) and switching store currency from INR to USD for dropshipping businesses targeting international markets while maintaining India as the primary location.
Thank you Victor.
Hello @Victor_5 ,
I want to change the Indian Rupee sign from Rs. to ā¹ on all pages of our Shopify store. I have a screenshot of the rupee sign that we want. Can you help us with a simple code link for this?
Hi @Bombay_Mart ,
You should be able to change the symbol for Rupees in Settings > General, where youāll see a āStore currencyā section. Pressing the āChange formattingā button will allow you to edit how currencies appear on your store:
If you change all instances of āRs.ā here to āā¹ā, this should then be reflected on your store whenever a price or currency is displayed.
Kind regards,

Dear Victor,
I hope you are doing good.
I am looking to change my App developer as their support is pathetic. Can you suggest any India-based App developer to convert my Shopify store to Android and IOS Apps?
Thanks
Neil
Hi, so, read all the articles about it, it shows that I canāt change my store currency after an order, but there hasnāt been any orders since I just started. Apart from that, I canāt find any āmanageā button in the admin payment settings, to add regions and currencies. I want to change my store currency to USD from INR but, it just wonāt happen. What should I do?
I am facing absolutely the same problem and i cant find anything to resolve it.
hey, so, it turns out that Shopify Payments isnāt available in India, so that is why we arenāt able to manage it. We have to activate third party apps if we want to change currencies for payments. Other than that, about the order, I guess they registered my sample orders as an order too.
Hello @Victor_5 ,
It worked. Thank you so much for the support.
Hi @NeilBDE ,
Iām sorry to hear that youāve had issues with your current app developer. You can view a list of third-party professionals who specialize in Shopify app development on the Shopify Experts marketplace. I have added a filter so that only developers based in India are shown, although you can remove this if you wish to look for others based elsewhere.

Hi @Bombay_Mart
No problem at all, Iām glad I could help.

Hi @reemikito ,
Yes, the option to change your storeās currency will be locked if you have Shopify Payments enabled and/ or you have processed an order on your store. This is because the currency youāre able to have on your store is dependent on your Shopify Payments account, and because changing the storeās currency may result in unwanted changes merchants are unaware of (e.g. prices do not change in accordance with any exchange rate, so a 10 INR product will become a $10 USD product).
If youāve disabled Shopify Payments and are still unable to change your storeās currency, please contact our support team. They will be able to authenticate you on the store and allow you to edit the storeās default currency.

Hello @Victor_5 ,
I want the cart value to be visible against the cart icon on my store. In addition to this, I want the total cart value against the products name on the cart page. Do suggest simple coding changes for this.
Hi @Bombay_Mart ,
I wouldnāt know how to do this myself as Iām not a theme specialist, however if youāre using a Shopify-made theme you can contact our support team and outline your request, which may be something our themes team can help with. If youāre using a third-party theme you would need to hire a Shopify Expert to make this change for you.
I did also find this thread where a user outlined the changes they made to their themeās code which helped them do this, so you are free to try and replicate their instructions in your own theme and see if that works.

Hi @Victor_5 I have sorted out my issue with the GST registration. The good thing is that I have got myself registered under GST in India as they have a special provision for GST registrations for companies of Foreign Origin. Now i have an issue. The main currency on my store is US$, i had to choose this currency because the payment gateways in UAE donāt accept payments in INR. While i will be selling the products in India, the customers will be charged in US$ at the checkout page. How do i create invoices with GST? because the GST has to be calculated in INR
Is there some app which can automize my invoices with GST along with currency conversion on each order?
Hi @deepak_dk ,
Iām glad to hear that you were able to register for GST. If your storeās currency is in USD and your receive payouts in USD, then this is what customers will be paying at checkout and how their payments will be displayed in their order confirmations. If you wish to generate separate orders for customers in India in INR, I would recommend checking out these apps:
These are invoicing apps specifically made for the Indian market. I am not 100% sure if they will allow you to convert from USD to INR when generating the invoices, but I would recommend giving them a try and seeing if this is possible.

@Victor_5 Iām starting anecommerce clothing website globally with a basic Shopify plan from next month in India by integrating with Printful, since Iām integrating with international print on demand services with Indian website, do I need to take any steps to follow like custom duties, Let say if any customer purchase from my website and I donāt want my customer to pay charges of custom duties instead I wish to handle for that so what Iām supposed to do? And can you suggest me about the shipping apps to deal with for international? And can I update my website with different currencies based on customer view page as they planning to buy in their currencies? Example: India-INR, Philippines- Peso ectara, please give me an advice to proceed before start up my business. I really appreciate the help upon this request. Thanks in advance.
Hi @Anonymous ,
Thank you for getting in touch. In terms of customs duties, this will depend partially on where the products are made and shipped from on Printfulās end, and where the customer is. For example, if Printful have a manufacturing location in the US and you sell your products to customers there, you or your customer shouldnāt need to pay customs charges as the products are being produced domestically. This is something youād want to speak to Printful directly about to ensure you know where your products are being made. If you discover that you are selling across borders and may be subject to pay customs duties, you can read more about managing these charges while selling on Shopify.
There are a number of shipping-based apps available to merchants on Shopify, which provide a wide variety of features. Some apps such as Shippo and Shipstation are multi-purpose apps that primarily help you buy shipping labels from a number of different couriers, whereas apps like Better Shipping allow you greater control of your shipping rates. I would recommend browsing the Shopify App Store to see what is available.
In terms of displaying product prices in multiple currencies, you can also do that via apps. There are a large number to choose from and these apps will allow your customers in different countries to browse your store and view your product prices in their currency of choice. Shopify does have its own multi-currency feature which can be used to process payments in different currencies at checkout, however this feature can only be done through Shopify Payments and this gateway is not available in India at this time.
I hope this has explained things for you, but please let me know if you have more questions.
Kind regards,

Hi Victor,
Hope you are doing well.
Can you please help me with my query?
I would like to block certain IP addresses from our store. They seemed faked and did so many orders to disturb our website.
Please help.
Hi @NeilBDE ,
Thank you for getting back in touch, I hope youāre well.
Shopify offers the free Fraud Filter app which you can use to automatically cancel and refund orders that come in from specific IP addresses. However, there are also some third-party apps that allow you to block and redirect visitors based on their IP addressāIād recommend checking out IP Blocker & Country Redirect as well as Traffic Guard.
