Reinstall theme to remove trash code from deleted apps?

Hello and thanks for helping.

When I started my Shopify store I experimented with many apps, then removed them. Now my page speed score is really slow. I read that many apps will leave code in your pages like theme.liquid. I’d like to clean out this leftover code if any remains. I’ve read here that one solution is to go through and hunt for this leftover code and delete it. However I don’t feel super comfortable doing this, I’m not sure if what I am deleting is correct. I also don’t remember the names of all the different apps that I tried. My experience with code is super limited.

So I’m wondering, if I just start fresh and reinstall the theme I purchased. Would that be an effective and easier way to clean out or overwrite this leftover app code? I realize that I will probably lose my styling/page layouts if I do this, which maybe end up being more work.

Is there another easier solution?

Thanks for guidance and suggestions. I appreciate it.

Yep that’s definitely a good way to go about it. You can get the theme customized up before you make it live as well so it won’t look weird to any customers currently on the site.

Remember that the idea behind your site isn’t to wow people with your deft styling/layout skills, it’s to sell products :slightly_smiling_face: So don’t spend too much time tinkering when you could spend more time selling.

Thank you. I appreciate the help.
