Remove Add to Card and Buy Now from SOME products

Hi All,

My client is selling her own product and also some affiliate products.

So product A,B,C are digital, and she will send a digital download link after the order is complete.

Product D,E,F are also digital, but the checkout is on another website (Affiliate products)

We would like to keep the site looking as consistent as possible.

How can we have the same style / location add to cart / buy button, for some products do the following:

  1. For some products, Use own shop’s cart/checkout system

  2. For some products, add a link, and that special link takes care of the order on an external website.

Any ideas / thought?

  1. Create a meta field for affiliate link
  2. Then we customize the product page with custom code with a condition such as: If the product meta field has a value then show custom buttons or show Shopify checkout buttons.

For now, Debut. I’m very new to Shopify. (I’m a full stack developer, so not new to coding:)

I wouldn’t really know where to start. But I guess I need to now go and read about the theme customisation on Shopify. Off I go to the docs :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Great. Some resources to point you right direction

Once this part is sorted. You have to find the product page template. In a standard debut theme, it’s called product-template.liquid under sections folder.

  • You can find the relevant section and put it inside an if statement as you need( Screenshot attached)

Sorry just one more question… does this work for Dawn theme too? Is Dawn the default theme right?

It will work on all Shop themes. The file name might change. But you will easily figure it out. Follow main product page and its child pages to get to the buy button.

Hello Lisa, one way you cold solve this issue is through the use of an app that allows the add to cart button to be used on specific products and then allow for another link for certain products which seems to be what you are looking for at the moment.
