Remove Discount Code/Store Credit Text Box at Checkout

We are currently using the Eight theme ‘Envy’ and are in need of urgent assistance!

We need to find out how to remove the Discount Code/Store Credit Text Box at the Checkout. We have a big sitewide sale going live tomorrow and do not want customers to be able to use another discount code on top of the already heavily discounted items.

We will then need to know how to add it back next week once our sale has concluded.

If anyone knows the coding for this and can give us clear instructions on exactly where to go to get this done, that would be amazing!

Hey, @AliceRobert .

Thanks for reaching out and posting this question.

I understand you’re looking for a way to disable the discount box at checkout so that customers can’t use another discount code during the site-wide sale. While there isn’t a way to customize the theme and remove the discount box from the checkout without the customizable checkout (available on Shopify Plus), an easier method is to temporarily deactivate all of the discount codes as the discount box doesn’t appear during the checkout when a store doesn’t have an active discount. If the site-wide sale also requires checking out with a discount code, then you can simply keep that as the only active discount during the sale. Once you’re done with the sale, you can always reactivate the discount codes to bring back the discount box in the checkout.

I noticed that you’re a new member of our Shopify Community and I’d love to hear more about your business! What types of products are you selling? Do you have a marketing plan prepared for your store?

This is a really disappointing answer. I hate the Discount Code box being always there - it implies there SHOULD be a discount code, which undermines the quality of the brand and confuses the purchase process. It’s really lame to not be able to remove this other than a volume plan or a hack (deactivate all). Seems like a simple thing to enable for stores to be able to control how things are discounted, not to force a dumb discount code box on all check out flows.

@AliceRobert @xaerial If you’re on Shopify Plus, you can use the PromoLock app to either disable all discount codes with a custom error message or allow only selected codes to be used.

Hey @webx47

So you are saying that, with PromoLock and Shopify Plus Store, we can hide/remove the discount box on checkout page?
