remove test orders (reset order database)

Topic summary

A user needs to remove multiple paid test orders from their e-commerce platform before launching their website and wants to reset the order database to start from zero.

Current Solution:

  • Orders must be deleted individually through each order’s detail page
  • A delete button appears at the bottom right of order details
  • Tip: Use Ctrl+click or right-click to open multiple orders in separate tabs for faster batch deletion

Unresolved Issue:

  • Even after deleting all test orders, the order numbering system continues from the last number (e.g., starting at #12 instead of #1)
  • No solution has been provided for resetting the order counter itself
  • Multiple users are seeking answers to this numbering reset problem as of February 2025

Hey

I did several test orders (real paid) to test our website. In the near future we will put the website live but I want to remove all the test orders we did and start from zero again, how can I do this?

Anyone?

If you click to view each order, at the bottom right of the order details is a delete button - you’ll need to delete all test orders one by one.

Ctrl+click each order (or right-click, open in new window) and you can switch between each tab, scroll to the bottom, hit delete and confirm - you can remove many orders quite quickly this way.

Did you ever find an answer for this? I have deleted all my test orders but it still comes up as order number 12 before we launch and I want it to start with order number 1.

I am too, looking for an ansewr to question Feb 2025
