Removed states from shipping profile but still appearing at checkout

Topic summary

A merchant removed certain US territories (Guam, Puerto Rico, etc.) from their shipping profile, but these locations still appear in the state dropdown menu at checkout.

Troubleshooting attempted:

  • Deleting and recreating the shipping profile
  • Clearing cache
  • Contacting support

Current behavior:

  • Removed states remain visible as options during checkout
  • Customers cannot complete purchases if they select these states
  • This creates confusion for customers about why unavailable options are displayed

Status: The issue remains unresolved, with at least one other merchant confirming they’re experiencing the same problem. No solution has been identified yet.

Anyone else having this issue where you remove a state from your shipping profile but it still shows as an option during checkout?

For example I removed Guam, Puerto Rico and other US territories that are not part of the original 50 states but at checkout under the drop down menu for state it still appears as an option.

I contacted support and did all the usual troubleshooting such as deleting the profile, creating a new one, and clearing my cache but nothing worked.

Fortunately if a customer does select one of those states it won’t let them complete the purchase but it can be confusing to customers to why it’s even an option in the first place.

Appreciate any feedback, thanks!

This exact same thing happened to me. Does anyone have a fix?
