Removing Express Checkout from Impulse Theme

Hello Shopify Community,

I’m seeking some advice on customizing the checkout process for my store using the Impulse theme. We are preparing to launch in a country where express checkout options are not commonly used, and I would like to remove or disable the express checkout buttons from my store’s checkout page. I’m interested in creating a more streamlined checkout experience that aligns with the preferences and practices of our target market. Therefore, I’m looking to either remove the express checkout section entirely or replace it with an alternative checkout process better suited to our needs.

Could anyone provide guidance or steps on how to achieve this within the Impulse theme settings or through custom code? Any tips, instructions, or code snippets that you could share would be greatly appreciated.

I am also looking for a way to disable Checkout functionality in the Impulse Theme. The Theme Customization interface says “Checkout can’t be edited using sections. To customize your checkout, go to theme settings.”

But, there are no settings in Theme Settings which provide for any way to control the functionality of the Checkout. There is also no way to remove the Shopping Cart icon from the header. If a user opens the Shopping Cart, they will see a button for Checkout even though no checkout functionality is intended.

And, no, I do not want custom code for this. This is basic functionality of an e-commerce site and should be controllable by settings.
