Report: List of products and quantities that are unfulfilled

Topic summary

A merchant needs a report showing unfulfilled product quantities across all outstanding orders (e.g., Product A: 19, Product B: 47, Product C: 27) to efficiently manage inventory and fulfillment.

Native Shopify Solution:

  • Export unfulfilled orders as CSV from the Orders section
  • Use spreadsheet software (Excel/Google Sheets) to sort by product name and calculate total quantities using SUM functions
  • Manual process requiring spreadsheet manipulation

Third-Party App Recommendations:
Multiple app developers offered specialized solutions:

  • Better Reports: Built-in “Items pending fulfillment” report, customizable, includes scheduling and auto-export features (14-day free trial)
  • EZ Exporter: Custom CSV/Excel reports with line_items.fulfillable_quantity field, pre-built template for unfulfilled orders grouped by SKU
  • Report Pundit: 100+ pre-built reports including unfulfilled orders, paid-but-not-fulfilled, and custom report builder
  • Mechanic: Automation app for scripted custom reports

Status: Multiple viable solutions presented; merchant has not confirmed which approach they selected. Apps appear to offer more automated, ready-to-use functionality compared to manual CSV exports.

Let’s say I have 100 unfulfilled orders. I would like to see a report that shows the a list of products and quantities required to fulfill those orders.

Example: Outstanding / Unfulfilled products and quantities

19 Product A

47 Product B

27 Product C

Avoid adding unnecessary and unrelated labels to topics it only increases the noise for other merchants or contributors to comb through slowing down help for everyone.

A report that specific would probably need an app, or built in excel using order export data.

Some external WMS or ERP services may have that as a feature like a fulfillment report, or unregonized-revenue depending on need, or some such.

Generating a pick-list may also be an app type to look at.

An automation app like mechanic can be scripted for specific business needs. https://tasks.mechanic.dev/?q=report

Hi @rebeccae

Claudia here from Better Reports.

Have you been able to find a solution? If not, I would recommend our app Better Reports for this.

We have a built-in report ‘Items pending fulfillment’ that shows the quantity of unfulfilled items by order. This report can quickly be edited to simply show the current quantity pending fulfillment by product.

In addition to this, Better Reports has more than 60 built-in reports available out of the box that cover many common use cases for merchants. You can schedule reports to run at set frequencies to your email or Google Drive or export the reports in CSV, Excel or PDF format.

I encourage you to install Better Reports and start your free 14-day trial and I’ll be happy to set this up for you.

What do you think?

Hi @rebeccae ,

If you’re open to using an app, our EZ Exporter app can generate a custom CSV/Excel report where you can add a column for the remaining quantity to be fulfilled.

In the app, you just need to select the field line_items.fulfillable_quantity to include this. You can set up a custom filter as well if you’d like to exclude line items that were already fully fuliflled.

If you need the data grouped by SKU, we also have a pre-built template you can use called “Unfulfilled or Partially Fulfilled Orders by SKU” which already has this configured and can be customized further.

If this is a report that you need on a regular basis, you can also schedule it to run automatically.

Hello @rebeccae ,

You can generate a report in your Shopify admin panel that shows a list of outstanding or unfulfilled products and their quantities required to fulfill those orders. Here’s how:

  • Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
  • Go to “Orders” and select “Unfulfilled”.
  • Select the orders you want to include in the report by checking the box next to each order.
  • Click on the “Export” button and select “Export as CSV”.
  • Open the CSV file in a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Sort the data by the “Lineitem name” column to group the products together.
  • Use the “SUM” function to calculate the total quantity required for each product.

Hope this can help.

OneCommerce team.
