When customers check out using Shop Pay (logging in via email/SMS), we encounter two critical issues that we cannot control as merchants:
-
Ignored Custom Language Settings: The shipping section heading reverts to the default “Shipping” label, completely ignoring the custom text we set in the theme’s content editor.
-
Collapsed Shipping Options by Default: The shipping options are collapsed by default. Customers must manually click to expand them to see the available choices.
We operate a wine shop in Japan, where customers must choose between “Cool Delivery (Refrigerated)” and “Standard Delivery.” During the summer season, if a customer overlooks the cool delivery option, the wine can spoil during transit, severely damaging the customer experience.
We would highly appreciate it if Shopify could consider the following improvements:
-
Reflect Custom Language: Allow Shop Pay checkout to respect the language customizations set by merchants, particularly for the shipping section heading.
-
Control Default Display State: Provide an option for merchants to have shipping options expanded by default, even within the accelerated Shop Pay checkout flow.
-
Alternative Solution: Alternatively, make the shipping option reordering feature available for plans below Shopify Plus.
