Request for Shopify Payments Availability in Bangladesh

Hello,

I hope you are all doing well. I would like to share a request regarding the availability of Shopify Payments. We live in Bangladesh, where there are many international and local dropshippers who are thriving in their businesses. However, they face challenges in using Shopify Payments due to certain requirements. For instance, we are required to form an LLC, which alone costs at least $200-300 just to access Shopify Payments.

I wanted to have the Shopify Payments also like the other dropshippers here in my country. So, I made an UK LTD but in my case, the shopify payment was declined since I don’t have any physical warehouse in the United Kingdom. But the other people here who are into dropshipping, they have UK LLC but no physical warehouse there in the UK.

Bangladesh is already making strides in the IT sector, with many people venturing into freelancing and IT fields and connecting with individuals worldwide. Despite this, we lack payment gateways like PayPal or Stripe, which are essential for people in these fields.

Could you make it easier for e-commerce hustlers in Bangladesh by enabling Shopify Payments for us? I am requesting Shopify to consider setting up Shopify Payments for Bangladesh, at least as a trial for 1 or 2 years. I believe this would be a win-win situation for both parties involved. It would greatly benefit the dropshippers and local sellers here who rely on Shopify as their selling platform.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and feedback on this. I can totally understand the value of having a payment gateway like this available to your business. While I can’t say when or if we will make Shopify Payments available to merchants like yourself in Bangladesh, the feedback you have provided is very important. As a merchant from Bangladesh, I am struggling with the same problem, the problem with Shopify payments. I would ask Shopify to please consider activating Shopify payment in Bangladesh as we are unable to change the checkout currency when trying to sell different markets.

Hi Shay, I am a shopify user in Bangladesh since 2016 and I concur with the request. We sell inside Bangladesh and having an integrated payment solution will greatly benefit us. You should see a boom in growth just by introducing this as the payment issue is the main feature holding back most merchants.
