Request to be invoiced at checkout vs having to pay a checkout

we have products that are special order and take time. We want to be able to have our wholesale customers check out but not have to pay at checkout and we can invoice them and fill in the correct shipping charges etc.

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, you have to own a Shopify plus store to be able to edit the checkout. You can check more information here.
