REST API: Format of prices and other monetary amounts

The REST API currently returns prices (and other monetary amounts) with a decimal point and without a thousands separator.

Is this a fix format I can rely on, or can this format be changed by currency, settings, headers or others means of localization?

I searched to REST reference of the Admin API but didn’t find anything about the format.

Yes, that format will remain consistent - it is not affected by the formatting settings in the Shopify admin.
