Retargeting Facebook ads for a specific product

To create a custom audience on Facebook Ads to retarget people who added a specific product to a cart, you need to set up a custom conversion for that product. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Go to your Facebook Ads Manager and click the “Events Manager” tab.
  2. Click “Custom Conversions” and then the “Create Custom Conversion” button.
  3. Choose “Purchase” as the conversion event and select the “URL Contains” option.
  4. In the URL field, enter the unique product ID or SKU for the product you want to track. For example, if the URL for the product is “https://www.yourwebsite.com/products/product123”, you would enter “product123” in the URL field.
  5. Click on “Create” to save the custom conversion.

Once you have set up the custom conversion, you can create a custom audience by following these steps:

  1. Go to your Facebook Ads Manager and click the “Audiences” tab.
  2. Click the “Create Audience” button and choose “Custom Audience” from the dropdown menu.
  3. Select “Website Traffic” as the source for your custom audience.
  4. In the “Include” section, select “People who visited specific web pages” and enter the product page URL you want to target.
  5. In the “Exclude” section, select “People who completed the purchase event” and choose the custom conversion you created for the product you want to target.
  6. Give your custom audience a name, and click “Create Audience” to save it.

By following these steps, you’ll create a custom audience of people who visited the specific product page but still need to complete the purchase event. This will allow you to retarget them with ads specifically for that product.

If you have multiple products that you want to track, you can create multiple custom conversions and custom audiences for each product. You can also experiment with combinations of “Include” and “Exclude” rules to create more targeted custom audiences.
