Hi everyone, I support clothing store.

Business have been from 2002 on local.

Now I building store with new design and there should be review section.

how to add review? Google detect fake review, then I can’t add review myself.

please let me know how to add review on start up stores.

hii @Sheep0218

A new Shopify store, the correct way is

Install a review app (Shopify Product Reviews, Judge.me Loox, etc.
Import real reviews from your past customers (if you have them
Send review request emails after purchases
If you had Google reviews from your physical store, you can showcase them using a Google Reviews app widget

Best practice start with genuine reviews from real customers, even if it’s just a few. Quality quantity, especially at launch.

Thanks

@anmolkumar Thanks,
but there are currently no sales in my store now  .

no sales, no reviews

Wow that really nice starting business from 2002 locally you would have enough experience on how things work locally but different from having store online you get my point did you later add up the review or still struggling to do so ?

Hi @Sheep0218, welcome to the Shopify community, and congrats on bringing your 2002 local shop online. You actually have a massive head start over most new e-commerce stores because you already have real, loyal customers.

You are 100% right to avoid fake reviews. Here is how to get real reviews moving fast for a new site:

  • Tap your local regulars: Put a QR code right at your physical checkout counter linking straight to your store. Just ask them casually: “We just launched our site, would you mind dropping a quick review on your favorite item?”
  • Package Inserts: Toss a simple “Thank You” card with a review link or QR code into every physical shopping bag and shipped order box.
  • Automated Emails: Install a review app (like Judge, Loox, or Yotpo). Set it to automatically email customers 7 to 14 days after they buy so they have time to try the clothes on.
  • Ethical Incentives: Use your review app to automatically send a 10% discount code for their next purchase if they leave an honest review on your site. (Note: You can do this for your own store website, but never offer incentives for Google Business reviews, as it is against Google’s terms).

Hope this helps

the best way to get real reviews on a brand new online store is to email your existing customers. if you’ve been in business since 2002, you have years of happy customers who just need a nudge. send a simple email after purchase asking for a review and make it one-click easy, don’t make them create an account or jump through hoops.

for the review app itself, Judge.me has a solid free tier and sends automatic review request emails after delivery. the key is timing though, send the request 7-10 days after delivery so they’ve actually used the product. Google absolutely detects fake reviews and it’ll tank your SEO, so don’t go down that road. real reviews from real customers, even just 5-10 to start, will do more for trust and SEO than 100 fake ones.
