I would like to add actionable buttons on the product image, inviting people to look at the different images.
We use the Ride Theme and I haven’t been able to find a code snippet that works.

Your guide does not mention Ride Theme specifically and the other code segments I tried that were supposed to work on Dawn and a variety of different themes did not work on mine.
You are confident Ride theme works with this?

I checked on the Ride theme and not found the option make the main image of the product have a next arrow or previous arrow image. It only make an arrow on the Image list and if you want this, please follow my step and make it:
Or if you don’t like it, I have a recommendations is find app make slide image on Shopify app.

Your #1 app solution works fine as a free app, but I need the colour changed from black to yellow (#e3fa3f).
The page where it’s implemented is this:

You see the arrow and image counter practically disappear in the background.
It’s a single colour change tweak - it’d be great if you could help out with that as well.

Sorry for reply late. To can be change color the Arrow and Counter, you can check out my suggestion below to change it:
Please go to Online Store > Themes > click 3 dots button > Edit code > Theme.liquid and add code above the tag on the file Theme.liquid.
