A local e-commerce consignment business has opened in my city. The “owner” had a previous storefront consignment business that closed during COVID. After repeated attempts to regain possession of my consigned items to no avail, I was recently alerted to her new online consignment business under the name of Phoenix Luxe. After visiting the website last week, I noted a number of my previously consigned items listed for sale. I know I am not the only person whose clothing has been absconded for the sale and profit to this individual. How do I report this person? I only want my items back. There is only a PO Box address and telephone number listed on the website.
Hi there, @PSW !
Welcome to the Community! Definitely a great place to gather some input regarding anything about the platform!
With regards to your inquiry, are you able to tell us more about your situation? How exactly were your items transferred to the store in question? Have you tried to reach out to the store directly? Any information that you can share about your situation will help us understand it better and be able to assist accordingly.
In the meantime, I have attached this link where you are able to report issues you are having with stores on the platform.
I look forward to hearing more from you.
I have sent my query via that link. The individual had a storefront
consignment store and I consigned a number of items in good faith. Quite
suddenly she closed the business without advising any of her consigners. A
number of us attempted to contact her to get our items back; no response
from her. Now, our items are showing up for sale on her e-commerce
website: www.phoenixluxuryconsignment.com, under the name Phoenix Luxe. I
have found a number of my items listed for sale to a value in excess of
$1600. Many more items of mine are still in her possession. I only want
these things returned to me.
Thank you for the added information, @PSW and I am glad to have you utilized the link I have sent to you.
With regards to this matter, first and foremost, I hear and understand where your frustrations are coming from. However, I would like to set expectations with regards to what we can do regarding this matter. Reporting the store to our internal team will result in our own private investigations about this store’s practices. However due to privacy regulations that the platform has, the results of this will be kept private.
Ultimately, I suggest you confer with your own legal counsel or authorities in your jurisdiction for assistance with regards to getting your items back. They are the ones who can help you actually with said items. If we find any store conducting illegal practices while on Shopify, the most we can do is close their store. We do not have any control over their items/inventory as this is not in our possession.
I wish you all the best in getting your possessions back.
Danielle, thank you for your quick response. The good news is that the
individual in possession of my clothing has finally responded to my most
recent email requesting the return of same. She also had removed them from
the website. The next step of course is to actually get them back, which I
am hopeful will happen. I thought it would be good to update you. I
appreciate your assistance in this regard and hopeful for a happy ending.
That is so great to hear, @PSW ! I really appreciate the update as well. It is definitely a good sign that the merchant has been communicating with you regarding your items.
Please keep utilizing the Community for any inquiries that you may have regarding the platform. Help is always available; all you need to do is ask.
I hope you have a good rest of your year!
