Sales channel integration

Topic summary

Merchant seeks help aligning Shopify with multiple sales channels, with the core issue on Meta (Facebook/Instagram). Meta appears connected to the wrong shop/catalog—likely a manually created one—so Shopify products don’t appear and product tagging in posts/ads isn’t possible.

Current setup: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, plus a third‑party app linking Amazon and eBay to Shopify. Most channels show as connected, but Meta misrecognition prevents catalog syncing and product tags, blocking traffic and sales.

Constraints: The merchant was misled by a paid helper who didn’t complete the setup and won’t refund, leaving a limited budget and a complex DIY configuration.

Request: Guidance or collaboration from someone experienced with Shopify–Meta integrations to correctly link the store/catalog and restore product visibility and tagging.

Status: Unresolved; assistance requested, no action taken yet.

Hello,

I have connected several sales channels to my Shopify store, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, and also a third-party app that connects Amazon and eBay to Shopify. While most of these channels appear to be connected, I am struggling to understand how they actually work together.

My main issue is with Facebook and Instagram. They are not recognizing my Shopify store correctly. Instead, they seem to be linked to a different shop, possibly one where products were created manually. Because of this, my Shopify products are not visible in Facebook or Instagram, and I am unable to tag products in posts or ads. Without product tagging, I cannot properly drive traffic or generate sales.

I am trying to resolve this on my own, but the setup has become very complicated for me. Unfortunately, I was recently misled by someone I paid to help with this setup, and the work was not completed nor was my payment refunded. As a result, I am now working with a very limited budget and trying to fix everything myself.

This may be a small or simple task for someone experienced with Shopify and Meta integrations, but for me it has been overwhelming, and I have not been able to sort it out properly.

If there is anyone who can help or guide me through this, I would truly appreciate the opportunity to cooperate and resolve these issues.

Thank you very much for your time and understanding.

This is a very common Meta + Shopify setup issue, so you’re not alone.

What’s happening is usually this:

Facebook/Instagram are connected to a different Commerce Account or Catalog than the one Shopify is trying to sync to. When products were previously created manually inside Meta, Meta keeps prioritizing that catalog, so your Shopify products never fully connect or become taggable.

Here’s the clean way to approach it:

Check which catalog Shopify is using
In Shopify → Sales channels → Facebook & Instagram, confirm which Meta Business Manager and Catalog are connected. Shopify should be the only source feeding that catalog.

Remove manual catalogs inside Meta
In Meta Business Manager → Commerce Manager / Catalogs, look for any catalog that says “Manual” or was created outside Shopify. Those often cause conflicts. Shopify works best when it’s the single source of truth.

Reconnect Facebook & Instagram from Shopify
Disconnect the Facebook & Instagram sales channel in Shopify, then reconnect it and explicitly select the correct Business Manager and catalog during setup.

Wait for product sync & approval
After reconnecting, products can take time to sync and be approved by Meta. Until approval is complete, tagging won’t work.

Other sales channels won’t affect this
Amazon, eBay, Pinterest, TikTok don’t interfere here this issue is almost always isolated to the Meta catalog setup.

Once the catalog is correctly linked to Shopify, product tagging in posts and ads usually starts working automatically.

When you check Commerce Manager, do you see more than one catalog or shop listed under your Business Manager?

Hi, thanks for your explanation whihc is very clear but when i try it isnt working. In catalogues i dont see any cataloque connected but there is a manual saying there and a product shows nothing else. is there any ways we can manage it together?

@galeyandesign Yes, this can be managed what you’re seeing (only a manual catalog and no Shopify-linked catalog) explains why nothing is syncing or taggable.

At this point the fix is usually:

Remove or disconnect the manual catalog

Re-establish the connection so Shopify creates and owns the catalog

Verify Business Manager permissions and domain ownership (this step often blocks the sync without showing clear errors)

This can be tricky to untangle when Meta has already stored a manual setup, so working through it step-by-step together is the fastest way to avoid breaking anything else.

Are you comfortable sharing whether your Meta Business Manager and Facebook page are fully verified, or would you prefer to walk through the setup live so everything is aligned correctly?

i am very comfortable by sharing. Because i couldn’t manage it despite of multiple try. Can I add you in my meta or how it works?

@galeyandesign Yes, that’s fine :+1:

The safest way is for us to take it step by step outside the community, so nothing gets misconfigured in Meta.

You can email me directly at ericjackson11k@gmail.com, and from there I can guide you on:

what access to grant (Business Manager roles),

which catalog to remove,

and how to reconnect Shopify so it becomes the single source of truth.

Once we’re aligned there, the tagging issue is usually straightforward to fix.

Can you send me an email and let me know what country your Business Manager is registered in?

I just sent you the email. Thanks

@galeyandesign Okay i will respond now

Hey Cenk,

This usually happens when facebook/instagram are connected to a different Bussiness Manage or an old catalog where products were created manually, instead of syncing directly from Shopify.

The fix is to correctly reconnect Shopify with Meta, remove the incorrect catalog and resync products so tagging works properly.
