Sales Tax in and Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ)

Does anyone have a solution for New Jersey’s Urban Enterprise Zone sales tax in Shopify? The law in a UEZ is that anyone who shops in our store 9IN asbury Park, NJ, USA) is entitled to pay 50% of the New Jersey sales tax rate. Since converting to Shopify POS we have been forced to charge the full tax rate to all of our customers which could jeopardize our participation in the UEZ program which has other benefits for us and our customers.

I’m curious if you’ve ever received an answer to this or what you’ve done as a workaround? I just registered to collect UEZ Sales Tax and have no idea how to collect half rate at my store vs. the full rate for online orders.

The issue is still unresolved. We do not do a lot of online sales. So, I
have switched all sales to the UEZ rate and at the end of each month I
calculate sales shipped in state at reduced rate tax and we pay the
additional 3.3125%.

Hope this is helpful, but I also hope that shopify comes up with a
better solution.

Not a solution but I opted to not collect the reduced sales tax and just pay into the program monthly and do everything else as normal. Wish I had a better update for you!
