What is the point of having product images in the Admin if you must create dynamic metaobjects to workaround the bugs in Shopify’s implementation of the product image files? And - you can’t expect us to manually update every product to workaround your bugs!
I have the same issue as the OP, @LeeAurich .
I did what she did and created an even worse duplicate mess. FYI - I use Matrixify to do the imports. Using one image file URL for all my product common images worked in the past, but your updates broke it. Now, I have 1000’s of duplicate images.
It’s ridiculous to tell us we have to fix this by manually editing every single product (or creating metaobjects). That is a huge waste of our valuable time!
All I can do is agree with what everyone else has written and BEG you to fix this! We need to be able to use ONE image across multiple products. And, we’ll need a reasonable way to clean up the MESS Shopify has made of our image files.
