Received below email with titled “URGENT: Account Deactivation in 3 Days”. The email looks very real with Case ID and such. However the only thing that caught my eye are the email address used (regulation.shopifymailer@gmail.com).
I’ve tried to login to my shopify account and didn’t recieve any notification in relation to Account Deactivation. Wonder if anyone can share some thought on this. PS. I didn’t click on the “Accessability Support” button, unsure if this is a scam or legit matter that i need to attent to.
The email is a dead giveaway. Shopify is never and will never use a gmail account. Gmail is almost never used in a professional setting unless you are some business running out of a basement lol. It is absolutely a scam. If you clicked on that link and entered information - change your account password for that account right now. If you just clicked it your are probably fine. I would also report them for phishing and notify them that you are doing as such. The FBI online division has an easy to fill out form. If you right click and copy the link and paste it here we can also take a look at the link to report the actual site they are using to
I receive such emails in all deceiving forms and tactics at least every few days and always check the email header to make sure. I treat every non '@Shopify.com ’ email as spam and fishing emails. Yes, you can always first login to Shopify and see if you get any notification or something to attend to. I’d also make sure I turned on the two-factor authentication for my Shopify login. Stay safe
Hi Bryan @BryanYF these scam emails are unfortunately becoming more rampant nowadays so hopefully something is done to curb them soon. Always remember that as a rule of thumb, Shopify will NEVER use a Gmail account for any email purposes.
